Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth. My goal is to help you uncover your true potential by working together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life.
Most of us never took classes in Healthy Relationships or Effective Communication. We're all just doing the best we can every day. Maybe you would like to learn better communication skills, or you want to learn to talk to your partner without getting into the same fight over and over. Maybe you are afraid your teen is making bad decisions, and you want to figure out how to get him to listen to you before it's too late. Or maybe you just need a private place of your own and someone to talk to – someone who will just listen, and where you are not judged.
In our first meeting I will ask you what you hope to
get out of our sessions, and will stay focused on what you need throughout our work. I try to give a balance of constructive advice, honest feedback, empathy, humor, and warmth.
I know that sometimes the loneliest place can be in a relationship that is not working. When working with couples, I teach communication skills, and conflict resolution skills including how to truly listen. In addition to helping you break out of patterns that are not working for you, we’ll work on building on the relationship strengths, which brought you together in the first place. I will not take sides, but instead help each person see how they can each be part of a solution. You may be surprised that you even laugh in sessions! And if your partner will not attend therapy with you, consider that sometimes amazing positive changes can happen even when just one person seeks help.
